Yup, that's right, Mia Hamm, the worlds greatest female soccer player to ever score a goal, has officially retired. She played her final game last night in Carson, California in front of 15,000+ screaming fans in a 5-0 win over Mexico. Mia did not score last night, but she did have two assists. In the second half she wore a jersey with her husbands name on it, "Garciaparra". She and the "Fab-Five" have been playing throughout the US on a somewhat "farewell tour" and it concluded last night.
Looks like Nomar is going to be forced to actually earn a pay check. But he just signed a 1yr/$8 Million deal, so they should be good for a while. Also, in 1999, Nike named it's largest building after Mia at their corporate campus (Beaverton, Washington), so, baby Hamm-Garciaparra should be all set.
