Volunteers Spread Word of Firefox

Optimists club calls it quits
Lancaster, PA
What is going on in the world today? The optimists, are quitting? Next we are going to hear that the pessimists have psyched themselves up, convinced they have won the age old debate of "... the glass is half full, the glass is half empty..." Read the article at "The Lancaster Online" a local newspaper in Lancaster, PA
(Don't ask why I was reading an online paper based in Lancaster, PA and I wont't tell)

It Just So Happens...
I went to say goodbye/hello to Melissa today at the registrars office and walked in on Chris mumbling to herself.
Chris: Oh, don't mind me, I'm just talking to myself
Me: Sure Chris...
Chris: No, I am
Me: (Look behind the door)
Chris: What are you doing?
Me: Looking for your imaginary friend
Chris: Oh Curtis! No, really, I have no friends...
Me: Suuuure Chris... goodnight... (Leave out the door)

Ha, we thought us silly Red Sox-Yankees fans had hatred... check out what these kids did. I'm not a fan of either school, but since I'm here in Boston, I guess I will side with "Hah-vid" ... but come on, you've got to hand it to these kids
See the movie here!

That when asked by Lydia during Thanksgiving dinner at The O's: "You don't like nuts right?"
I quickly replied "No...", then pointed towards Anna,
and said "... except for this one!"

Tidbits...
I have decided to add a new element to my NEWLY formed blog/site:
Although the information I will throw out will be random and useless, it may be tastey to some. My tidbits will come in a variety of "flovours" ranging from Jokes, to Facts, to well, anything...
Main Entry: tid·bit
Pronunciation: 'tid-"bit
Function: noun
Etymology: perhaps from tit- (as in titmouse) + bit
1 : a choice morsel of food
2 : a choice or pleasing bit (as of information)

Jordan's Furniture
Reading, MA
Well, Anna and I made our first trip to the new, bigger Jordan's Furniture in Reading. Ok, I've heard that this place was big, but... WOW! It's, as Elf would say: "Ginormous!" This place is a "must see" when touring north of Boston.
Inside they have: A LOT of Jelly Belly Jelly Beans everywhere. Jelly beans on the wall, a Monster replica, complete with "Wally the Green Monster" eating a NY Yankee player; Huge ice cream sundae made of jelly beans over Richardsons Farms ice cream store; A statue of Paul Reveremade of Jelly Belly Jelly Beans...
Let me just show you what the store says:
Anyways, the place is just a grand arena for ... furniture... good place to go for good furniture. However, as a friend remarked to me: "Maybe next time they should make it a 'kid-free store', or maybe just some 'kid-free days' "... ahh... if you go you will see what I mean.

Youll be thrilled by Beantowns Liquid Fireworks Show, our gigantic 500-seat Comcast IMAX 3D Theater, and room after room of gorgeous furniture displays in the store showrooms."

Top 10 List: Black Friday
Now I know why they call the day after Thanksgiving "Black Friday"...
10. It really is "black" outside when you wake up for "early-bird specials"
9. "Black" is the kind of coffee you need to get you going at 5AM
8. You have a better chance of winning the lottery than parking in the first 10 rows at the mall.
7. It's not a crowd, it's like an army of ants marching towards that one little crumb.
6. Those special deals, they pretty much last through Christmas Eve, so you can wait.
5. No way do rich people do this, I need to become rich, more sleep...
4. Nightmares of being trampled walking into a store at 6AM
3. I don't think malls were intended to be open this early, even the manikins look tired
2. A freaky coincidence... didn't I just see that same person in the last store I was at?
1. ... snooze...

Black Friday...
What's the plan for shopping on the Friday after Thanksgiving... every year... by Anna, you ask? Wake-up wicked early... and go shopping!
Last time this happened? 2001. We woke up at 5AM or so and made it to Staples at 5:30 or so. They had some deal that we NEEDED. We got there a bit too early for Staples, so we stopped in next door at Toys 'R Us where they had free coffee and pop-tarts, what great people.
This years plan:
5:30AM - Get up
6:00-6:15AM - Leave the APT
6:45AM - at the mall shopping
What really happened?
5:30AM - Alarm goes off, I get up and set snooze for 30 minutes later...
6:00AM - Repeat step above, Anna nudges me, says that she wanted to get up early and leave, tells me to go to take a shower and get ready. My response: "Hey, I woke-up,you are late, you get up and get ready, wake me when you are done"
6:30AM - Repeat step above, w/o conversation
7:00AM - Repeat step above
7:30AM - Give up on getting up early
9:30AM - Finally get up and get going to the stores
Ah, I love it when we accomplish what we plan to do. You've got to love us!

Curtis and a Hat...
Here I am, in the "Leopard Hat". Later, this picture will be used in a "Pumpkin Carving Conspiracy"/ More to follow...
Thanksgiving, and giving, and giving...
Well today Anna and I went through an abbreviated version of our annual "Turkey Day Ritual". In case you didn't know about our "Turkey Day Ritual" (now, and forever, known as "TDR") let me begin to explain:
First, we've been together for about six years and still, we have no idea what we are doing on ANY Thanksgiving Day. Usually we will figure it out by midnight or so the night before, even then, its not 100%.
Anna and I can sometimes be a bit careless with times and plans, well, I'm careless, she just puts up with me.
Plan for Thanksgiving (as of 24 Nov 2004):
8:30AM - Wake-Up (Arlington)
10AM - My Dad's for breakfast (Cambridge)
1PM - Nana's for pre-Thanksgiving Dinner (Braintree)
4PM - O's for Thanksgiving Dinner (Cambridge)
So we have set plans to eat at the O's, sometime between 2PM and 4PM. This year, it was at 4PM. However, I have a HUGE family (Mom: 5 Bro's & Sis' - Dad: 10 Bro's & Sis'). Usually we try to get to both sides of my family.
So on Wednesday night we asked my dad to have breakfast at 10AM because we had a few places to go to. Well, we (Anna, Grace, and I) showed up to my dad's at 11AM. Plans just got screwed up from there.
Breakfast at Dad's: Scrambled eggs, cheese omletts, sausage, bacon, sour dough bread, rolls (w/butter), home fries, cake, orange juice, iced tea, and I'm sure I'm missing some other goodies.
* (We took home some Turkey and other Thanksgiving type food)
My sister Jen calls, she wants us to bring her some of my dad's food to her. She gets out of work at 2PM, in Boston. Well, we thought that maybe we could leave my dad's a bit early, and stop by Jen's on the way to Nana's. Eh, it's a break from the plans, but, that's how we roll.
Ah, we left my dad's house at 1:45PM. Now we had to stop at home because Anna and Grace forgot some stuff. So, we call Jen (can't get a hold of her, so we leave a VM message). So we head back to Arlington, then back past Cambridge, past my dad's house, past the O's house, and off to Boston.
We are about 7 minutes away from Jen when she calls and says she in the Fenway area, which we had just passed. So we turn around, miss a turn, turn around again, and find Jen. Stop and talk to her a bit.
By this time we have no real time to get to Nana's. So I call her, let her know we would not make it (Oh, by the way, I never really told her we were going, for reasons like this).
Now we head back towards the O's house. Its about 3PM. On the way there we remember we would pick up some flowers that Mrs. O requested. So, we went from the end of Mass. Ave. in Boston all the way up to Harvard Sq. looking for a Kabloom. On the way, we traveled down Boylston Street, around the Boston Common, back up Newbury Street and on to Mass. Ave. again. We could have sworn there was a Kabloom in that area.
Well, we end up going through Central Sq., Harvard Sq. up Mass. Ave., and into Davis Sq. looking for a Florist. Even Star Market in Porter Sq. was closed. So we trek back down Mass. Ave, towards the O's, through Harvard Sq. and we snuck a peek to see if Brattle Florist was open (This is the same place who supplied the flowers for our wedding). So we stop in, say "Hello" to the regulars and the owners.
So we finally make it to the O's house. Who's there? Me, Anna, Grace, Dr. O, Mrs. O, Lydia, Alex, and Alex Jr. What are we having? Brace youself, Mrs. O is a great cook and she loves to feed us, sometimes, haha.
Real food: All home made: tortellini soup, some sort of salad greens (w/walnuts, feta cheese, and a sweet dressing), turkey, stuffing (2 types - rice and regular), sweet potatoes, gravy, garlic mashed potatoes, carrots, green beans, cranberry (jellied can and home made), and brussell sprouts.
For dessert: Vanilla and Heath Bar Crunch ice cream (Ben & Jerry's), All home made: pumkin pie (one by Mrs. O, one by Lydia), chocolate chip cookies, some new choclate cake, cookies, apple pie.
* (Once again, I'm sure I am missing some things)
We left the O's at 8PM. We left with our bellies about 4 times the size they were when we woke up.
Well that's it... that was TDR 2004... hope to report back again next year... mmm mmm good.
